Ipswich Opportunity Group is a charity managed by a voluntary management committee. They offer structured play and support to children with special needs
At Opportunity Group, we understand that being a parent or carer of a child with additional needs can sometimes be very hard going. It is easy to feel that you are left to do it all alone and that nobody understands what you are going through. Support in the early years can be very helpful; however, help and advice from friends and relatives is not always enough. Most parents in our group have at one time or other faced similar problems and they, our staff and volunteers are all here to share their experiences. Our experienced staff have relevant childcare qualifications.
Opportunity Group offers the chance for your child to experience and be part of a playgroup situation in a safe and caring environment. Signing, pictures and symbols are used to help to develop your child’s communication skills.
Opportunity Group is not just for your child. It is important that you get the support and help that you need as well. We aim to give you the chance to talk and share your experiences in a relaxed and informal setting over a cup of coffee, while your child is enjoying the playgroup. Occasionally, we invite relevant speakers to come along to your coffee sessions.
We work together with you and other professionals to share knowledge of your child in order to achieve the best support for them, for example, when starting at a new setting.
Opportunity Group follows the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
